Join recent Arrow Yoga 200 YTT grad Sara Downey for an exploration of the 8 limbs of yoga through both asana practice and discussion! Each class in this 8-week series will include 45 minutes of asana followed by 30 minutes of learning and discussion of one of the limbs of yoga.

This series is meant for yogis of all levels who are interested in learning more about the history and philosophy of yoga and/or discussing their practice with a supportive community!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

 

Provide high-level education on the 8 limbs of yoga and yoga practice beyond asana, using asana practice as an accessible entry point to the 8 limbs

 

Each class will be 75 minutes long & broken down into 40-45 minutes of yoga asana and 30-35 minutes of lecture & discussion on one of the eight limbs of yoga. Classes will be held weekly & each class will discuss the limbs progressively (general schedule below). 

  • Week 1: The Yoga Sutras & Yamas

  • Week 2: Niyamas

  • Week 3: Asana

  • Week 4: Pranayama

  • Week 5: Pratyahara

  • Week 6: Dharana

  • Week 7: Dhyana

  • Week 8: Samadhi

WHO CAN JOIN?

This class series is meant for yogis of all levels of study who have an interest in the philosophical history and spiritual context of yoga, an interest in building (or continuing to build) a holistic yoga practice, and would like to discuss their practice and how to apply their practice with a supportive community. 

Each class will include a flow themed and customized to each limb, as well as a brief slide presentation on the limb, related sutras, & moderated discussion on how participants think of/understand the limb and how they apply their practice in day-to-day life.

MEET SARA

Hi, I'm Sara! I started my yoga practice at home with VHS tapes (yes, VHS tapes!) as a kid.

 

In the intervening years, I've always come back to yoga as a source of steadiness, mindfulness, and compassion.

 

I completed my 200 YTT with Arrow Yoga in April 2022 and am incredibly excited to share in your practice. I strongly believe that yoga is meant for everyone and focus on making my classes accessible to anyone with a desire to practice!

 

When I'm not practicing or teaching, I love reading, hiking, and thrift shopping.
