About the Event

Join Dani Reidy as she discusses the orgins of the formal school of Yoga. We will look into the history of the Vedas, The Upanishads, the Baghavad Gita, and the Yoga Sutras-- where we will lpeep into the specifics of the Sutras that correspond with what we know of today as the 8 limbed path of yoga (Ashtanga Yoga or Raja Yoga), as defined by Patanjali. We'll discuss the classical era, post classical and modern era of yoga to grasp a clearer understanding of the origins of the present day asana (posture) practice and it's founders. 

We'll discuss main points from the Yoga Sutras to understand the purpose of each of the chapters, in an attempt to demystify and inform our understanding of the original intent of the the practice.
